Pastor Keith's Desk
Many times our thanksgiving is relative. By that I mean that when we don’t have much, any gift we get is huge!I remember in the early days of the church being really broke! No money, no food, no gas…broke. I roofed houses to make ends meet, but it was wintertime so it was impossible to get a roofing job. So, I applied to a local gas station. I guess they knew that it would only be temporary.
Our two kids were very young so Becky wasn’t in the work force either! WE WERE DESPARATE! We were so discouraged and didn’t know what to do. We continued to pray and ask God to provide. When things seemed bleakest, we got a letter in the mail from a pastor in Kansas City, Tyrone Adrian, who sent us $50. It was completely unexpected. Honestly, it was like a thousand dollars because we were so broke! Trust me, we could make $50 go a long way!
Needless to say, we were so very thankful. Since then I remember that God has always provided our needs. And sometimes when things get rough, I remember those days and understand that God is always in control. It’s good to know, isn’t it? Thank you Lord!
