It’s Camp Season!
At the young age of 11 years old, I remember going to camp for the first time and not knowing what to expect. What was camp? What was I going to do for a week in a place I didn't know? In retrospect to this day I am thankful that I had that experience for the first time and have loved it for the last 25 years.
The last four years have truly been a blessing from the Lord here at Lighthouse and every summer when camp season arrives, there’s a buzz in the air. That buzz is students getting excited about camp and what they love most about it. As the youth pastor here, nothing brings more joy to my heart than hearing and seeing students get pumped about the camp season. You may ask why does camp season do that? It’s because students have the opportunity to be removed from the world and disconnect from the media crazed culture we live in and saturate in Christ for 5 straight days.
Each of the last four summers we have seen students come to know Christ as their Savior. Already this summer we have had four students come to know Christ as their Savior and we still have High School camp to go in July. As the youth pastor I ask that you as the church member make it a point to pray for these students. Pray that they are open to what the Lord is going to teach them. Pray for the ones who have been struggling in sin, that they would flee from that sin and allow God to give them the comfort they’re looking for. Pray for the student who doesn't know Christ as their personal Savior and that they come to know Him.
Lastly I wanted to take a moment and thank you as our church for investing in these teens here at Lighthouse. Most people will say that the “youth” are the future of the church. Well as one of the pastors I say they are the church now and they are a valuable asset here at Lighthouse. So thank you Lighthouse for helping minister to these teens and helping them get to camp this summer. The decisions they make this summer and for the years to come will be added to your account in eternity for investing in them. Words can’t explain how thankful I am that you take time to invest, minister, and encourage them. Something my wife Karianne and I reinforce to these teens is they’re “So Loved”. John 3:16 tells us that God sent Christ to die for us because He “So loved” us. So thank you again Lighthouse for investing in them and showing them that they’re “So loved” by you too!
